The spring of 2020 is not like any other we have experienced. The national and international crisis has led to more of cooperation and pressure on all societies where the public debate and its actors have had to find new pathways and take on new positions.
Now more than ever, there is a need for broad talks across all sectors in each country where decision-makers and stakeholders can meet in in-depth discussions on what we have learned, what we can do here and now, and what needs to happen this coming fall – whether a continued pandemic or not.
The yearly political festival of Järva together with the politician’s week of Almedalen in Visby would have been natural arenas in Sweden for those conversations. We do not want them to be silenced now when they are needed the most and have therefore founded the digital conference “The Future Arena” “Framtidsarenan”. Our intention is not to replace – but to be a complement and fill the needs of the current situation. A platform for the broad as well as the niche conversations in the same self-organizing spirit that has been the strength of both summer events for years.
We now invite organizations, companies, political parties and other actors of society that want to opt in on the discussion on the future of Sweden, to participate free of charge on June 16-17. Hold your talks in the format you want or join other organizers with your representatives or experts if there is a match. Conversations and meetings to form Sweden’s future will be at the center – what we have learned this spring, what we can and need to do now and in the coming fall to move forward in the best possible way.
